Zebra Z-Perform 1000D product guide

25 February 2013

The choice faced by the first time label printer user of which type of label to use can sometimes be a little confusing. We've already discussed the choice of direct thermal printing v's thermal transfer printing in a previous blog (which you can see here).

So given that you've decided which printing technology works best for you, this will be the first in a series of articles in which we'll try to demystify the range of label materials available to you - welcome to Zebra's Z-Perform 1000D.

Zebra Z-Perform 1000D is a direct thermal self-adhesive paper label (direct thermal is denoted by the use of the letter "D" at the end of the product name). It is Zebra's economy product in direct thermal labels range (for "economy" read lowest cost) and is available for use in Zebra's desktop range (so LP2824 / TLP2824, GK420d / GK420t, GX420d / GX420t, GK430t) and mid-range and high-performance range printers (so S4M, ZM400, ZT220, ZT230, ZM600, 105SL, 110Xi4, 140Xi4, 170Xi4 and 220Xi4), and, of course because it's a direct thermal labels it doesn't need a ribbon to print. It is a white uncoated direct thermal label stock - so provides little protection to surface scuffing when in transit.

Zebra Z-Perform 1000D comes with a permanent adhesive (that is, once the printed label is applied to the end product or box etc, it is designed to stay there permanently - there are other label materials available with a removable adhesive for applications requiring this). The adhesive provides good initial tack and adhesion on a wide range of surfaces with the minimum temperature at which the label can be applied being 0ºC (there are more suitable products if you are labelling products at a lower temperature than this).
As with all direct thermal labels, Z-Perform 1000D is not recommended for applications involving long term exposure to sunlight or extreme heat.

We do hope you've find this product guide useful - to summarise Zebra Z-Perform 1000D :-
